I'm Brandi Giovanetto, the heart and soul behind Gio Design Company. Let's take a stroll down memory lane and uncover how my passion for interior design blossomed into a thriving business.
A Glimpse into My World
To kick things off, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Brandi Giovanetto, the proud owner and designer at Gio Design Company. While my business keeps me busy, my most important role is that of a mom to five incredible kids. With a few of them now transitioning into adulthood, I can't help but reflect on the passage of time. Cue the nostalgia and a few tears!
The Early Sparks of Passion Interior design has been my true love since childhood. The signs were all there – I couldn't resist constantly rearranging my bedroom layout and design. What kid thinks about how their room flows and whether or not its furniture arrangement is optimal for hosting friends in their room? And if you can believe it, I once swapped my bed for a couch! Admittedly, that design was short-lived, but it was my parents' support that truly nurtured my creative expression.
A Challenge and an Opportunity
As I grew older, I realized my dream of being a mom. It's a role I've always cherished, but it came with its challenges. Picture a petite 900-square-foot house with my energetic five kiddos, each under the age of six. Yet, within those tight quarters, I uncovered a knack for optimizing space while keeping the design beautiful, turning every square inch into a functional haven.
From Small to Spacious, the Challenge Persists
Fast-forward to today, where we live in a much more spacious home. You'd think our space woes would have vanished, but they are still there. Bigger kids take up even more room! My passion lies not just in design, but in understanding how a family functions within a space. My own experiences helped me to create designs that seamlessly blend style with functionality. I want my home to be an amazing backdrop to our families memories. I love that we spend Sunday's cozied up in our movie theater room, or play games in our living room on the floor around the coffee table, or cook dinner in our kitchen that is big enough for our large family to move around in comfortably together.
From Hobby to Calling
Friends and family constantly marveled at my knack for function and design, urging me to turn it into a profession. This led to a hobby of designing for those close to me, and even referrals from friends of friends. However, it wasn't until later, with my kids growing up and my husband's business thriving, that I felt the time was right to embark on my own venture.
Education and Pursuing Dreams
So, off to college I went, first starting at a university and then finishing up my education and graduating from The Interior Design Institute. It was the confidence boost I needed to take the next step – starting Gio Design Company. Building a business from scratch was no small feat, but with the determination of a toddler trying to walk and the unwavering support from my husband and kids, I turned my dream into reality.
A Passionate Approach
My passion for interior design is closely intertwined with my love for family and creating warm,
inviting spaces to host friends and loved ones. When you work with me, it's not just about aesthetics – it's about understanding your family's needs and designing spaces that reflect your style and cater to your lifestyle. No stuffy, unobtainable designs here, just relaxed, functional spaces.
